It looks as though they are blindfolded but it is actually a fly mask. It helps to keep flies out of their eyes. A horse is unable to shoo them away from his head like he can with other parts of his body. Flies literaly torment horses in the warmer months so it actually essential.

BLINDFOLDS? LOL!

No, that's a fly shield, it's made from nylon and has a sort of screen that the flies can't get through, so the horse can have peace and not have to deal with flies all around it's eyes.

They're called fly shields, face masks, etc. Take a look--

Sounds like they're trying to protect it from insects... at other times, horses will have 'blinkers' put on them, which limits their field of vision to a corridor straight ahead, and that's to stop them freaking out in traffic. If it really was a proper blindfold, it could be that the horse has some kind of eye infection that they need to keep covered up until it's healed properly... unlikely, but possible...

What you saw was a fly mask. Horses are plagued by flies in the warm weather. I prefer to use a fly fringe as flies can sometimes get under the mask and get stuck there causing the horse even more discomfort.

The horse wasn't blindfolded. He had a fly mask on. You can't see through the mesh, but believe me, he can see out just fine.

It's not a blindfold but a mesh net to keep biting flies out of the horse's eyes. the horse can still see.

The horse you saw was not wearing a blindfold. It was wearing an anti-fly net. (To keep the flys away from its eyes.)

Just to let you know it was not being blindfoled. It is a cover to keep the flys away from the eyes of the Horse. My sisters have horses and they have a cover to put over the horese eyes to keep the flys away.
