I had 3 babies, starting 27 years ago. I think for you it is not good. First of all, there are newborns that don't sleep more than a few hours at a time; they have gas pains, and also are adjusting to the world outside the mother's womb and the mother is just getting to know the baby. I think being in public on an airplane is too distracting.

I started flying when I was about six weeks. That was enough time for my mother to get adjusted to a new baby. Flying with a new baby isn't an easy task. I hope that you are traveling with another adult too. They can help with all the stuff you need to take with you and holding the baby. Remember that the pressure changes so bring a bottle or feed on the plane to help with the ears. Also, ask your doctor and see what he recommends-and see what the airlines requires for travel-some want a birth certificate-something that doesn't come in a couple of days.

I believe that most airlines have some restrictions as to the age of a new baby, simply because new babies are somewhat more prone to medical emergencies than babies even as much as a month old. That being said, I think that if you yourself are a good flier, your baby will be fine. Babies pick up on Mom's (or Dad's) stress, or lack thereof; if you're comfortable flying, I believe your baby will be fine.

I remember asking my doctor how soon I could fly and she said there wasn't really an age requirement so I could have flown after a couple of days, but she did recommend me to wait couple of months because of baby's immune system. So I waited till he was two months and got his immunization shots and then three days later me, my 2 year old son, and two month old baby flew to Texas to be with my husband and their daddy.

To me, a few days old is too soon. They need some time to stablize and so does mom. I'd say a month, 6 weeks. That gives baby time to learn to eat well, mom time to feel up to travel, etc.

I guess unless there is a NEED for the child to fly as in death or sickness not just a vacation..You need to ask your child's dr. there are a lot of germs flying around in public places people who are sick fly everyday you don't want your baby to catch something..Also as a new mom it might not be good for you as well check with your dr. too

Yes, that is too early. I believe there's an age requirement. Call the airline or your travel agent and ask.

I heard you shouldn't within a few months, something with the ears and the altitude but I would check with your pediatrician just to be on the safe side!

I would wait for 3 months. A newborn baby's immune system is not developed fully and airplanes are germ factories....poor air quality etc.
