I was reading about Homeopathy, it seems illogcal to me. However a lot of people seem to believe it works.
Is it more than just the placebo effect when people feel better from homeopathic treatments or is it something more?
Any ideas will be appreciated!

I am a Homeopath.
Lets take you on your word, you say like a lot of other people that its just PLACEBO.
Can you please explain how does Placebo medicine works on Infants and Animals ?
And on top of everything how does it brings a person in a Coma out of it :o) yes COMA, Just one dose of OPIUM and ARNICA MONTANA both in CM potency will bring a person out of a coma. I am not making empty claims TRY IT !
Its an open and out challenge for everyone who calls Homeopathy Placebo or Faith Healing. Just one dose of these two medicines mentioned above and watch the affect.
Now how does a person in a Coma knows that he or she has been given a medicine or even Placebo, give me a break.
All that, is just propaganda from the legal Drug Pushers of the World who cannot stand anything which can actually cure you, all they are interested in is selling you drastic drugs which you have to take all life long one after the other after the other and so on and on and on...... MONEY and GREED is what triggers this bias against Homeopathy or maybe SHEER IGNORANCE.
Its up to you to decide what it is my friend.
It makes me laugh at the sheer stupidity when some one calls it "Placebo"

Homeopathy is the New School of smart Medicine, Allopathy(Conventional Medicine) is the old outmoded and out dated school of Medicine and like it has happened before the old school is just too stubborn to admit that they were and still are WRONG and they have to change and they will.

In one sentence "Homeopathy is the art of healing and its a total beauty"

Homeopathy, like any other, is a recognized branch of medicine. Skeptics and cynics may have their opinion, but homeopathy works and it works silently. There is nothing illogical about it. It has definitely no placebo effect nor it has any psychological effect on the patient. Infact, it has such powers that many allopathic practitioners have started practicing homeopathy. If it was illogical , then would they have done that?
Today, homeopathy colleges have surgery as their curriculum. Isnt it comparable with allopathy?
I am not a homeopath but I am an alternative medical healer. And I firmly believe in homeopathic remedies, and even prescribe them.
I suggest, you should try it once to believe it. By the way, it is the only branch of medicine which does not give you side effects and please believe it.

Homeopathic medicine is an alternative to taking potential harmful medications prescribed by doctors. Many people don't know that most of our medications are derived from herbs. Unfortunately when these herbs are broken down they no longer contain the nutrients the body needs to properly absorb the herb. This imbalance tends to create problems and side-effects with many of today's drugs. Not all of the stuff out there is beneficial but there is some truth to homeopathy.

There are a lot of people that don't believe in it, but homeopathy and natural herbs really work. Most homeopathic/natural products have had tests and studies done on them that compared them against placebo, and all the tests showed that the natural product did better for what it claimed than the placebo did.

Plus, there's the fact that we have thousands of customers that order natural products daily, and dozens of which daily tell us how much they love the product(s) they're taking, and quite a few that even say they can tell when they've forgotten to take a dose (which is the opposite of the "placebo effect" that some people claim they are).

I really believe in homeopathy, I had kidney infections for years went to different doctors, had a lot of tests over the years and everything was perfect and the only solution the doctors came up with was put me on antibiotics for life. I was getting a kidney infection once a month so I had to take an antibiotic once a month which meant that my immune system was very low so I picked everything up including glandular fever. So I decided to go to a homoeopath, since i was little I slept on my teddy bear not a pillow so it was the foam in the teddy bear making me sick, so I was given remedies and got rid of the teddy bear and gave up refined sugars. I have not had a kidney infection in over a year. The most that has been wrong with me is hay fever which was sorted with acupuncture. I was sceptical about the homoeopathy but now if i have a problem I ring the homoeopath or I get acupuncture done. It is defiantly more than a placebo.

Lets start with aspirin. You know what aspirin is, right? Well, aspirin was originally discovered in white willow bark. You take some of the bark, drop it into hot water and ta da! Aspirin. Homeopathy today is trying to get back to where medicine started. Most opiates are derived from poppy seeds. All our modern medicine is is isolating the compounds in plants and synthesizing them. With antibiotics, there are many that are natural, such as grapefruit seed extract. The PROBLEM with modern medicine is that it is bastardizing nature. Take antibiotics for example... If you take them for every cold, then you eventually build up a resistance.

Now, I am not an idiot. I prefer to go all-natural if possible. However, if something serious happens, obviously, I am going to go to the doctor. I broke my arm and I went to the hospital and took all the medicine they told meto, including antibiotics. But because I never use antibiotics, they worked really well. I get my regular check-ups and stuff. I also go to a holistic doctor. The two doctors agree that what I am doing is good for me. I am in perfect health. I have not been sick (except a 3 day case of allergies) for three years.

So, homeopathy may seem illogical to you, but if you think about it.... do you want to spend $50 on prescriptions that you don't really need or do you want to add a little more citrus, or extract or tea to your diet? It seems logical to me to PREVENT illness, rather than just treat it.

It could be the placebo effect or it could be actual results - the same goes with western medicine. For instance, how many people go to the doctor with a cold, come home with antibiotics (since some doctors dish them out so liberally) and proclaim that cured them? Despite the fact that colds are caused by a virus and antibiotics treat bacterial infections, the patient receives the desired outcome.

I'm an EMT, free clinic volunteer, and breast cancer survivor. I've realized that in any form of medicine there's luck, trial and error, guesswork, and every now and then there's some real science to it.

It indeed seems implausible. I'm not aware of any evidence that it is more than placebo.
