As they are not making them anymore and the many have been destroyed and taken out of circulation, I would suggest saving them. Some items are worth money even in the poorest of conditions. It's difficult to predict what people will want 20, 30 or 40 years from now.

If you can only save some, save the best ones. You can buy plastic protectors for them at your local coin shop.

If they are crisp uncirculated and you can afford to hold onto them for 20 years or so, then you may make a small profit. If they are circulated spend them, for it would take 50 years or more for them to be worth anything. As an example a series 1928 $100 Federal Reserve Note sells for $150 in grade fine. That is a trends value and they are usually a little high. A dealer pays at least 40% less so you can see the note is not worth much over face value.
