Not a single republican congressman defending Gonzales reputation or actions. Why is that?

Mcconnell is doing his version of a ********. Sucking pole to get a position in the White House. Even republicans dislike him.

Bush, did. He called Gonzales a "man of integrity, decency, and principle." This is true if "integrity" and "principle" mean nothing more than loyalty to Bush and the Republican party.

There have been many incidents such as this one, and Materazzi isn't any different than the people involved in other similar acts. Yes, he was wrong to insult Zidane in such a way, but Zidane was also wrong to react with violences despite the fact that he knew whatever insults were false. And, whenever someone has fans, they also have enemies. Not everyone hates Materazzi, and he's still a great defender on the field. If he did join the Mafia group, how would you know? What if he already has? Why, joining the Mafia surely doesn't require a public announcement!

He was used and should have known it..the Torture Papers,
Gitmo, Domestic Spying...the whole Nine Yards. If I was
Gonzo I would have told George Bush point Blank that my
office was not the place for him to try to work out his dirty
schemes on how to be a Dictator because that is exactly
what he is acting like..He has no respect for Congress,
the American People or the Rule of Law.

Because Gonzales was the Liar General, a disgrace to the office, and totally incompetent. He was a liability to the party and to the administration. And he was probably going to be summoned to testify and found out as the liar he was. This of course would brand the Attorney General as a perjurer, and bring further shame on the entire American political structure, which includes both parties of course.

Mitch McConnell (R- Kentucky) was voicing a weak protest , however my guess is that most do not want to appear either stupid or that of being to close to the president, at least for the immediate future.

They are trying to distance themselves from a political "loser".

Perhaps firing those attorneys was politically motivated; perhaps it wasn't. I suspect it was, but that is too bad--they were political appointees, anyway, so it wasn't like they were promised permanent job security.

I didn't like that fact that he kept interpreting the Constitution to give more power to the Executive and saw nothing wrong with eroding American freedoms.

Because Republicans DO NOT CARE about Gonzales except that he helped them to shore up the latino vote.

You want an emotional response? For good or ill, Ask a Democrat.

At their absolute worst, the Democrats are stupid. And, at their absolute worst, the Republicans are evil.

Which would you rather be? Stupid or Evil?

You answer that question, and you'll have your party affiliation all picked out.

Also, you'll find the answer to the question: "Why isn't the GOP sticking up for their friend?"

Well you ask this question four hours after he resigned. News spreads fast but not that fast. Why don't you let the story play out before you start commenting on the ending.
