As in, that is so lame. I don't think the word gay should be a substitute for something lame. That makes the word derogatory. Any homosexuals care to comment?

Do you insult cripples when you say 'That's so Lame'? Do you even care about cripples?

I don't mind it, but at the same time, the people who tend to use the phrase use it a LOT. Those are the ones I kinda wanna smack.

It's like, it doesn't even make sense. Why not just say lame or stupid or silly and not offend anyone? Using it once or twice is alright, but if you're gonna say everything that you see stupid is "gay", then we're gonna have a little talk...

Yeah, but then again the people who use it don't know any better. Its usually someone who doesn't have any class or is of low intelligence (or a child) . You will never hear an intelligent or classy person use the word gay to describe something negative.

No, it doesn't bother me. So long as they are only doing it to describe negative characteristics of something other than homosexuality. I am not that insecure that I would take offense to someone misusing a word.

I don't like it, it's giving a negative meaning to a neutral word! Gay is gay. It describes happiness, it describes homosexuality, but when you use Gay as a synonym for stupid, it does hurt a little :P

Yes, I hear it all the time. I think if I was out to my family and friends they wouldn't say in front of me because I do find it derogatory.

I'm not gay, but it annoys me too. Most people who use that word that way aren't even homophobic--they just got used to it because it's all around them. It's rooted in homophobic sentiment, though.

It sure wouldn't fly if people started trying to popularize "that is so black" to mean the same thing--a double standard to think about.

i think it is an out dated term. nowadays it does offend people and shouldn't be used really. my straight friends say it to me as a joke (i'm bi btw) but i know they are for gay rights and use it only on me for joke purposes
