Love is the faculty/power/virtue of the soul that enables us to desire good for another more strongly than desiring your own good. Therefore the opposite of love is not hatred but selfishness.

Love is a feeling.. and like all feelings it has degrees and types and forms.. anything from a crush to a friendship to true love.
The highest form of love, that is TRUE love is easily defined in the state where you would ask nothign of that other person but do anything for that other person without hesitation and with hapiness simply because you love them. including giving up your life, friends, wealth, family, possessions, etc. at some point this may be classified as over obsession and overabundance of love but at the right balance true love can be achieved and realized and is by far the greatest accomplishment many can acheive in their personal and emotional lives.
Therefore I would say love is something that all people feel, in some way, in their lives, and is something most people seek all their lives. Some know it when they find it.. others not so much.. but how can you blame someone if they don't quite know what they're looking for?

Technically speaking Love is -
True expressions of love coming from the true heart center are always sent on wings of understanding. This causes a definite interlinking between heart and head, so Love is not complete unless the two work together as one.

Experientially for me Love unfolds -
When I feel magnetically attracted to an individual who resonates with fundamental principles that we share.
Where there is also some mutual physical attraction.
Where I feel completely safe and secure to being emotionally open and vulnerable with this person.
Where there is mutual respect for eachother.
When I am connecting to someone for a purpose and I can sense the principle of Divine Love as being unselfish, inclusive,expansive, unlimited, uplifting and non-sexual.

Love means caring in an emotional way for another. It is accepting the other person, flaws and all. It's wanting to be with them and make them happy, while keeping one's own self-respect at the same time.

Love is...making someones heart smile. wanting to see more of each other. worth all the pain it seems to cause. Even though there are good times and bad, one cuddle from the person you are in love with makes all the bad stuff go away and you can only see the good stuff. 4 months ago i got heartbroken so badly. But I wouldn't have changed any of our time together because it was perfect. And i'll always love him. =)

To put someone ahead of yourself... To not be selfish. It's not at all list, lust is corrupted love. Don't mistake it. Love applies not only to lovers, but it can apply to friends and family obviously.
