look at all the anti-American groups and organizations all around the world, which side of the political isle do they stand on? the left. remember the New Left of the 60's and 70's, who were not able to say one good thing about America, yet they continued to live here, along with the many immigrants that came? the soviets who accused America of being imperialist, yet in Soviet times you couldn't buy anything in eastern Europe that wasn't Russian-made.
who would Hugo Chavez vote for? that dictator who is dedicated to crushing opposition in a very Soviet style, just like American media.

and then they make some excuse saying that criticism doesn't mean they hate America. criticism in itself doesn't mean that, but couple that with the fact that leftists cant say one good thing about America, ever. conservatives say both good and bad. pat buchanan for example.
is it that hard for liberals to just move to venezuela or some more comfortable place? it would embarrass America, as you want.

You're only 30% of the population, so, who cares what you think anymore?

Chavez is not a dictator. Dictators aren't elected and RE-elected. That's called democracy. He's not a dictator simply because he doesn't like the US.

But anyway; have you ever heard of something called change? It's where bad things are got rid of, and replaced by better things. Now, many people (conservatives almost exclusively, hence the name) are opposed to change, and think things should be conserved exactly as they are. Some people don't think this, and these are the "raving left" you speak of. In order to bring about change you must criticise your government, even to the level of dissent, when your government refuses to change the way you, their voters, think they should.

Now to rise to your challenge, say one good thing about America. Here goes... "America is a free country, which does much good in the world. Without American help and influence more evil would almost certainly exist. The people of the US (but usually not the government) often believe in many good things such as democracy and freedom of expression, and truly believe that these are ideals worth dying for."

I'd say that was a pretty nice thing to say, wouldn't you?

Now your indictments of the Soviets being imperialist - I don't deny it. But I wouldn't say the soviets were left wing. They were autocrats first and foremost - autocracy is the absolute antithesis of liberal democracy, the one has an all powerful state with a supreme ruler who cannot be challenged, the other has a largely laissez-faire government which is entirely answerable to the people it governs. Not exactly ideal bedfellows are they? But just because the sovets were hypocrites doesn't mean the US is right to be imperialist. Just because someone on your street shoots his neighbour doesn't mean you're allowed to. "Everyone else is doing it" isn't an excuse for a pot smoking teen, and shouldn't be an excuse for a government either.

Keeping the problems of the U.S. in the dark away from speculation serves no purpose.

Address what's wrong and change it!

We once were a country that the people of the world looked on with hope and aspirations of wanting their leaders to adopt some of the U.S. freedoms and civil liberties for the people of their country.
Or many of them risked everything trying to get here!

We cannot lead the world towards Democracy and freedom by infringing on our own laws that provide these things!!

Why is that so difficult to comprehend?

The United States is squandering the wonderful opportunity it has to truly lead the world to freedom for all!!
And for what?

So the powerbrokers of the world can get wealthier!!
Not to benefit everyone ...just themselves and their cohorts!
Damn everyone else in their quest for power and money!

Loyalty to the country always. Loyalty to the government when it deserves it. - Mark Twain

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. - John F. Kennedy

Unless you can find a legitimate, legal means to remove those who don't agree with your ideology from this country, I'm staying right here.

We have to listen to your drivel, so we're entitled to speak our minds too.
If you don't like that, you know where the "power off" button on your computer is.

There are several glaring problems with your rant. First of all, liberals often praise man things about America, for example, our freedoms, our opportunities, our inclusiveness. The problem is that those who think like you do simply ignore these comments, as they do not fit into your world view. The other problem I see is that you mention conservatives willing to speak out against what they see as problems with America as being evidence of conservative fairness. However, how many of these "problems" they speak out against are simply things that liberals are doing? How often will conservatives come out against the actions of a republican government official?

We love America, and we want to try to fix the damage that's been done. That's why we're staying.

It is right-wingers like you who hate America, as evidenced by your constant stripping of the Constitution. Bye-bye, Alberto Gonzales!

Why don't I move? MAKE ME. I dare you. Find a legal way to run me out of the country I was born in. Seriously, I'm not kidding. You figure out how to legally force me to leave this country and I will.

I'm waiting...

Until then, shut the hell up; you don't have the right to demand that U.S. citizens leave this country, you weak-minded lemming.

I love it when people like you take the words right out of my mouth! I totally agree, 100%. I say that if people want to bad mouth America, they can move to France where people actually CARE.
