Put aside your personal feelings about his politics. Mr. Gonzalez did manage to attain very influential political offices in both Texas and Washington, D. C.

Personally, I disagreed with several of his opinions about the law and the Constitution. However, no one's political career is perfect, so I cut him some slack.

I think he makes a fine role model for Mexican-Americans.

I still like Henry Cisneros, too. (okay, so he had an affair--how many politicians do that, hm?)

Alberto is the role model for incompetence. Something that the Bush admin apparently has in abundance.

I believe it to be more politics than a question of honesty. And, yes, he is a role model for Hispanics. He reached the highest office ever held by a Hispanic in the US.

I am married to a lovely American who happens to be a 2nd generation citizen of Mexican heritage.
