Yahoo News has a featured story titled something like " Afghanistan Opium levels at 'Frightening' levels " .
OK , Coca plants in South America are at 'frightening' levels and have been for decades . But do they say that ? --No

Pedophilia is at 'frightening' levels . But do they say that ? --No

Hatred is at 'frightening' levels . But do they say that ? -- No

Over medication of Americans is at 'frightening' levels . But do they say that ? --No.

And the GRAND-DADDY of them all. . . . . RADICAL ISLAM IS AT FRIGHTENING LEVELS . But do they ever , ever , ever say that ??? -- NO .. . . . . . AND WHY NOT ?

So is Yahoo biased , or just a bunch of fear-mongers ?

I have to agree with you on this one. It isn't bias, just fear mongering for a buck. All the media is guilty of sensationalism.

added. I wonder what frightens them about the opium levels? Too much to use or the market flooding and lowering the price.

I don't think they are biased. people can't report every thing story and the fact that other things are rising or have risen at 'frightening levels' doesn't mean that opium (which is less dangerous than some things) isn't also on the rise.

I have seen articles about some of the other things you listed on yahoo.

Well considering the sources Yahoo gets to "publish" the news I'm not the least bit surprised. Rarely do we see a by-line with a Wall Street Journal or a Fox News affiliate. We all already know how bias the "normal" press is so Yahoo is sort of stuck, however they do have the option of not putting certain sensational headlines on the front page so they do bear some responsibility.

Is not the same.In Afghanistan since the war started people live in extreme poverty and have no other choice but to have opium pants.A lot of people also are addicted in order to deal with the war.UN troops burned a lot of those plantations but they recognize recently that only leaves the farmers without any income.

The whole Yahoo enterprise is biased. I just had an answer called into violation where I said what the democrats were doing to Hillary would just come back in the form of Republican ads so they were doing research to be used later by the Republicans. This site and Yahoo in general is over the edge and needs to have some restraints.

information factors have an prolonged and outstanding history of political bias. Ever pay attention of "Yellow Journalism"? Yahoo information is not any diverse. yet, a minimum of Yahoo information does not fill the everyday public of it incredibly is content with blatantly biased pundits like another information agencies that shall stay nameless (yet their call rimes with container Stews)

I think the far leftys would say they're biased on the right side - it's all a matter of perception.
The press goes where the money takes them. Pointing out coca plants in south america are increasing in numbers will probably only get them targeted by thugs.
Pointing out how selfish society has become will only make people feel bad about themselves, then they'll switch news channels to someone who doesn't expect decency out of them.
It's all about the mighty dollar, not about the news

American media is pathetic. Why do these types of items surprise you?

Major American media is owned entirely by 5 (or 6, I forget) huge corporations, none of which is particularly interested in providing quality news coverage. It's just a product, like Campbell's soup to them.

Yeah, I thought that Afghanistan story was a little over the top. I think it was printed for an anti-war stance.

Yahoo News can't get anything right the first time...

This morning they reported that Michael Vick will be sentenced September 10th....Now it's December 10th...

Go figure!

And they only report the bad....just like ALL mass-media jerks. Remember....SHOCK VALUE!
