long story short:
I have comcast high speed… and my computer was going hella slow. I was getting annoyed for a few days then one day the internet stopped altogether. I tried for hours to figure out WHAT was happening. I got all mad and uninstalled my LOCAL AREA CONNECTION in my NETWORK CONNECTIONS folder… now the whole folder is empty (so of course I have no internet connection at home, and I have to be sneaking around at work just to write this!!)... I think I really screwed up. I have no idea what I was thinking, I was just pissed off and angry, but now I’m just sad…
Please help, I have no clue about computers…

I restarted my computer and rolled back like some suggested and the icon was back... but still no internet. I called Comcast and they said I was their fault! They're coming out to fix it on Friday!
I'm such a dork.

Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
Pick a "restore-point" that was just before you started screwing around, restore from that date, and everything will come back to normal.

It sounds like you removed your Wired adapter and its related software.
I am not a highly skilled computer technician, but I know that my LAN connection which uses a Wired NIC Card, (mine is from Intel) was pre-iinstalled when I bought this computer.
I installed my WAN myself. My Wireless Access Network did not exist in the Network Connections folder until I had installed the related software, including the driver(s) and then plugged in the card. Once I did this it showed up in the proper folder and allowed me the means to configure that connection.
So, just reverse your steps of removing your Wired NIC card and reinstall it. If it was pre-installed as mine was then call your computers manufacturer and get assistance. If the actual card is still installed and you simply removed the related software, you will need to first remove the card from your motherboard, then install the software and drivers, and then reinstall the card.
Unless you went into Add/Remove Windows Componants and unchecked the box in front of "Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client. This is the componant which allows for the discovery and control of UpnP devices on the network and could very well cause your LAN to go invisable.
If I understand the workings of this componant properly, that is.
Basically, my suggestion is to backtrack your footsteps in removing your LAN, and reinstall it onto your system.
You may need some assistance to do this. Even if your system is still under warranty, this will not be covered as it is a result of your tampering with the system which caused the issue. However, you can choose to either pay your manufacturers fee for assistance from their technical department, where they can walk you through fixing this issue, or you can decide to take your system to a reputable repair shop.
If you do decide to use a reputable computer repair shop try to avoid the "bix box" retailers as they just are not as personal in their services as a smaller company.
Good luck and I hope you get this fixed soon as it is horrid to lose a connection at home! I know because I did something once which locked me out of my network connection too. I accidently put my Routers encryption password in at the wrong time and locked myself out of the connection completely. I had to reset to factory specs to get up and running again, which meant I had to reconfigure the entire network connection from the ground up.

In the Control Panel, click on Network Connections. Click on Create a new connection. In the connection wizard, choose internet connection and then you will have the option to use the CD that came from your ISP. Pop in your cd and it will do the rest. Hope that helps and good luck!

Bobbydigits is spot on. You need to do a System restore. just take it back a few days. and the second question is "what have you learned from this little temper tantrum?"

Should have called your ISP.
Find out what Network Interface Card (NIC) you have, then get the driver for it.
Re-plugging a cable does not reinstall any drivers.
System restore does not always fix the problem, so stop downthumbing me.

Try unplugging the comcast cable and plug it back in. This usually reinstalls the drivers, etc.
