How do you know he is not consulting others ? Normally this is a combined decision made by the think tank , even before captains go in for ' Toss '
It is a game which may go in any body's favour. Any way I can understand and share your feelings. This Team is definitely stronger than the present England team and must have more Wins to it's credit.
We have to blame the 'Think Tank' for their utterly defencive posture and loosing ways .
We should have won the Test Series also by 2-0 Except for the 'COWARDLY' Declaration/failure to impose the 'Follow On' , there by loosing the chance to become No 2 in Test Rankings.
Our mentality has been always " Defend and Loose ' instead of ' Offence even if you Fail ' .
When our management and leaders would change their attitude.?

No.Not for the shorter version of the game at least ,we do not need so many senior players at one time in one dayers as they cant fieid like the younger lot can and they cant run between the wickets like them. And this puts a lot of pressure on the younger players during the batting and the fielding as well. The senior players are good and they may be in form as well but we must have a rotation policy which gives the youngsters a chance to proove themselves and get some exposure at the international level.
With the combination that we have at the moment it would be always wise to bat first because the senoir palyers cant really take those crucial cheeky singles and rotate the strike that puts pressure on the oposition during the initilally overs .

Normally decision to bat or field after winning the toss depends upon various factors such as nature and condition of the pitch, climatic condition etc. Sometimes such decisions misfire and Captain comes under fire. I strongly feel that before the toss is
taken the issue may have been discussed in the team meeting
and a decision taken as to whether field first or bat first after winning the toss.

I have always said on this forum that Rahul Dravid does not possess the abilities to lead the Indian side. He chickens out in difficult situations. Remember what he did in the 3rd test? We all know how he let them off the hook. India need a bold captain who can make quick but wise descisions. I was surprised to know that he chose to bowl first in a day game. Knowing that Indians are not good chasers his decisions are strange and coward. In my opinion he seriously need some counselling regarding his captaincy. No doubt he is master at one thing and that is to defend his stupid decisions.

Rahul Dravid has no guts to bat first when he wins the toss.

India have good batting experience and they can score 300+ batting first and this will put pressure on the opposition while chasing.

Batting second India usually get panic specially Sachin.

Though his decision is not all that wrong, considering our batsmen's capacity he must think many times before taking such a decision again.
In spite of that decision India could still have forced a win,if after fall of the 5th wicket Dhoni,Powar and Zaheer had acted with common sense.
Ae the fall of Dravid's wicket,he should have sent Zaheer as a pinch hitter, because we had wickets in hand.

it's all chapell falt i think dravid is not a right captain as a captain should have command over team and also discuss with team members but he cant command as he is soft & gentleman and does'nt get angry.. so it is better to change the captain & INDIA is not only for chase but also to bat first & WIN

Dpn't think of roughly CRICKET. think of roughly INDIA'S destiny in technological know-how and technologies, poverty, financial growth and coaching. via fact at present day difficulty, each INDIAN hates the cricket. this is the placement of team INDIA. there are maximum of problems in our u . s . a . . think of roughly them. do no longer think of roughly this worst Indian cricket team (no longer CRICKET). this is my suggestion.
