Our dog has a purple streak! Could he have been maced??

Question

We have a 2 yr. old mini-schnauzer who is the nicest dog you've ever met. A couple weeks ago we went outside in the morning and he had a purple streak all down his back!
We originally thought it was spray paint .. but someone said it could have been mace?
A day before we found the purple line on him, an appraiser had been at our house to give us an estimate on the value. Is it possible he maced the dog???
Has anyone ever heard of mace leaving behind a purple streak????

Mace pepper spray can come in colors of red, green, purple, and black that I'm aware of.

I suggest you give your pup a bath to remove any of the residue.
