It depends on how those terms are understood. If "rugged" means "unkempt and brutal", I'd not be turned on by such a man; neither by "pretty boys" if that means "sissy and wimpy". I, for one, prefer those with manly, but noble facial features (e.g. strong jawline and beautiful eyes), and get turned off by both bulky, uncivilized types and stereotypical nice guys. I think the study points out that, in times of prosperity, men can afford to be less savage and show their more feminine, civilized side. I mean, when his kids are starving, little does a man care about the latest men's fashion, right?
