Could be that your display resolution isn't set correctly. Also check the settings of the LCD to make sure the resolution there matches that which is set on the display card.

CRTs do handle different resolutions better. They are also better at colour reproduction.
To get a sharp picture on an LCD you need to run the desktop resolution at the native resolution of the panel.
If that makes the characters too small, then you can increase the DPI setting of the screen in the Display Properties. Also you can use Ctrl + to alter the font size in a window.
LCDs have none of the geometric distortion problems that CRTs can have.

You might want to do some research into the sony LCD's and a "green blob" phenomenon. I don't know too much about it, but it looks like it's an issue with the displays on certain sony tv's. Personally, I went with a DLP over a plasma/lcd flat panel. Bigger is better, and for the money I was able to get a larger tv going the DLP route.

For best Colour reproduction, the CRT;s are the best..Also the sharpness can be due to various reasons...
1.Cleartype not enabled
2. Non native resolution set
3. Drivers/ OS updates etc....
Do check the same n try again...Also if u have t money, go for panels from Apple, Samsung or other branded stuff..
do rate if it helped

I depends on your video card on board, and driver settings, you should install the LCD Monitor driver, so that you can adjust the settings. LCD is better than CRT of course.

IMO, flat is the way to go. They are brighter for one and alot sharper. Update your drivers and get a good brand.

Be sure that you're using the DVI connector if your monitor supports it.
