I remember trying to find out what "Fevicol" is before... it's a brand of glue manufactured in India (and has also become a general name for that type of glue, like we may call all tissues by their brand name --"Kleenex"-- instead of just tissues).

I did just find this though, so I suppose that either Fevicol makes only one kind of glue (a "white"/PVA glue), or that's the one that is most often referred to?

"The glue we use here is PVA, and Fevicol PVA is the most popular one. It is milky white when fresh and tries to a semi transparent stiff (not brittle) mass. Meant for use in woodwork.
They have a quick set version which is pale yellow in colour and it dries in something like 10 to 20 minutes. Needs several hours to attain full strength. Normal fevicol takes hours to set and probably 24 hours to attain full strength."

Not sure though, because PVA glue should dry "clear" in most cases, though the version for wood here in the U.S. is generally been colored yellow.

So, if the Fevicol you're referring to is a PVA glue (also called a "white glue"), then it's water-based and more water can definitely be added to it --to thin it or use for decoupage as a fairly good sealer, etc.

HTH at least a bit. . .

Well, Cutie, I must admit I didn't know what fevicol is. I did a websearch, "fevicol mixed with water." Apparently it has alot of uses in India, but from what I can gather, something else is added to the mixture, as well as the water, for what purpose you are using it. I would suggest you do the search also, because I don't know what you wanted to do with it.

There is a special adhesive for PVC-U for fittings and pipes. The one I'm using is made by Henkel (tangit). The plumbers usually use those things for joining the pipes for running water . You can try that … but fevicol doesn’t work as good as this …I think..

Yes you can mix water in fevicol. But you must be careful while adding water because adding water weakens the strength of the adhesive. You must mix water only where the application requires less strength for example gluing paper to paper or paper to cardboard, envelope sealing, fixing stickers. If the application is hardcore (i.e fixing wood to wood, laminates to plywood, wood to metal) then dilution is not recommended.
