Middle school is not as hard as it looks. You will want to only bring your essential supplies (paper, pens, folder, etc.) on the first day, because some schools don't give out locker assignments right away and you'll be stuck lugging all your stuff around from class to class. Most schools have combination locks already attached to the lockers, so you won't need an extra padlock. However, some schools require you to have an extra lock for your gym locker. Your teachers will provide you with a supply list for each class, so you'll know what to bring. Once you've got your locker, you can just go there once before school, once at lunch, and once at the end of the day, and you can change out the books/supplies you'll need for each class, so you won't have to carry around too much.

As for keeping track of the classes: it is pretty easy, but nobody expects you to get your schedule 100% memorized by the first day, so don't be shy about asking someone where a classroom is if you can't find it. Also, when I was in middle school, I remember that the teachers were pretty lenient on the first few days of school if we were late to a class because we couldn't find it or something.

I think you'll find that all the kids your age are still going to be adapting to middle school, just like you, so the styles for kids in your class will most likely be the same as they were in elementary school. The older kids may dress/look different, but that doesn't mean you should copy them. Just stick to who you are as a person, and your true friends will just like you the way you are.

One more piece of advice: if you are a girl, you will inevitably meet up with a group of "mean girls", either in your class or older than you. Whatever you do, DON'T let them get to you. If you have to ignore them, come up with witty comebacks, whatever-do it. Just don't let them make you feel worthless or dumb, because you're not. OK?

Ahh first year of middle school...interesting...
Okay well I'm going into eighth so I can tell you some stuff from experience
Don't bring a lock YET, wait and see if the teachers say you should(most schools have an orientation a couple days before the first day)
You don't need a HUGE back pack but a normal size
It's pretty different from elementary school (More teachers, lockers, homework, more responsibility)
Styles depend on where you live and your schools dress code
At first classes are annoying to keep track of but by the 2nd or 3rd week you'll have your classes memorized =]

Good Luck!

It's going to be fine, calm down. They really help you ease into the whole middle school experience.

•Should you bring a lock- wait and ask the teachers. You probably don't have to.

•Do I need a big backpack- No. It needs to be medium sized, and not too big that it will not fit in the locker!

•How much different from elementary- For me, very different, as I went to a private school. For you, it's probably not that different if you were in public school before. I bet you'll have an even easier time adapting than me!

•What styles are acceptable- If you want to be cool, Abercrombie and Hollister. But I advise not trying to fit in. Also, lots of middle schools don't allow spaghetti straps. You should check the dress code, if you got a handbook.

•Is it hard keeping track of classes- Personally, I don't think so.

Have a good time, it's so much better than elementary!

At first, don't worry about middle school. You don't need a locker unless, your gym teacher tells you to bring one. Some lockers do have their own lockers. You won't have to bring a big backpack just a medium size backpack.
In middle school you'll only have 6 or 7 teachers. Life in middle school is more cool than an elementry school. It's not hard to keep up with the teachers. There are many styles.
GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I'm in 6th grade right now. I live in maryland so I go to middle school a week earlier than most states. Today is my 3rd day ans so far it's pretty cool. DON"T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE. I bought this HUGE bookbag thinking I will need to hold all this stuff. You don't. You put EVERYTHING in you locker most of the time and bring only what you need for each class. (Agenda, pencil, folder and paper is what most classes need. Bring a lock for your locker. A lot of 6th graders didn't buy a lock and 7th and 8th grades stole EVERYTHING. I swear. WARNING: There are mostly about 3 schools at the same time going to one middle school. Chances are, you won't know a lot of people campared to last year. Try to make new frineds. Im still getting used to school and I notice that they're a lot of anoxious people. Ignore them! In a couple of days in school, you will get used to the classrooms and where everything is. It's a lot different from elementary. I just started middle school so I dont know much. I hope this helps a little

Hey there! Middle School and Elementary School are both very different. I'm currently in 8th grade and love it!! Here are some tips:).

Lockers: If you can't get your locker open, DONT WORRY! Relax. You can always ask one of your teachers or friends to help you. On my first day of middle school, I wasn't able to get my locker open and was late to class. The teacher completely understood my situation and was very nice about it :)

Switching classes: It's really weird at first to get use to. In elementary you only have one teacher while in middle school you have around 7 or 8. In the middle of the year, you will eventually sort of memorize your schedule. It's really easy to switch classes once you get the hang of it and its pretty fun because you have wayy more freedom compared to elementary.

Backpack: Any size would do :)

Hopefully this helped :). The important thing to remember is that middle school is sooo AWESOME. I'm going to be going into high school next year and i wish i wasn't because i will miss middle school so much. I've had so many great memories with friends

Okay first you need to relax... then just don't worry about the lock at all wait to see what teachers tell you... and then don't get a big backpack... and the only differnce is that you have a lot of differnent teachers... but don't stress just be cool and relaxed... and everything will run smoothly!!
