Can a person afford to have morals in today's world? Can he/she survive this harsh world?

Of course people can and should have morals!!!! Yes, we live in a very harsh and sometimes terrible world, but why would one want to compromise themselves by giving in and having no morals. I can't even imagine that. I haven't thought of having morals as a big time turn on, I just thought it was a normal grown up thing to have. I was raised that way to have morals and treat others as I would like to be treated.

Read your history. Immorality is the chief cause of the downfalls of both the Roman and Greek empires. So if morality is a thing of the past, our culture is destined to fail. People can not only survive in this world with morales but will still thrive. People would much rather deal with those they can trust than having to always be checking on the others.

A person has to have morals in this world. Look at the recent problems with Gonzales and with the football player, Vick. A big part of the debate about whether or not we should stay in Iraq has to do with whether or not we have a moral obligation to the people there. Without morals you have no basis of trust between people and ultimately you will have a very lonely life.

Morality is not a thing of the past. It is part of the foundation of any civilized culture. You would have complete chaos without moral guidelines/laws. Imagine pedophiles, thieves, rapists, murderers all loose in a society with no moral code of conduct and no law. I would not want to be anywhere near this place and time. civilised and know the meaning of morality and
over 50% of human beiengs practice morals.

history repeats one person without any morality

Morality is a big subject and depends on your system of ethics. In a sense there is a moral code for criminals even if it doesn't match yours. In the broad sense, yes most, if not all, have a sense of morality.

Granted our cultures moral norms maybe becoming less restrictive than they once were, but that doesn't mean they were right to begin with.

As long as Christians exist in this world and justify wars as righteous, morality is bogus and never truly existed.

People need to understand that a truely good person is guided by his own want for the same good for others. Until then, being good because God says so is not true morality.

Morality should be taught in schools. Sadly its a lack of morality and respect that is one of the causes of a lot of our problems today. Innocent children wouldn't be killed, molested, abducted, and abused if we were more moral.
Nations of people wouldn't suffer at the hands of dictators.
Animals wouldn't suffer horrendous cruelty.
If its a thing of the past then the past is all we have, for a life without it isn't a life at all.
