Hey guys!
This idea just popped into my head and I was wondering if it sounded good.
Basically, the book would be set in 1920s Tuscany, Italy. The daughter of a poor farmer, Bella, is infatuated with Marco, the son of a wealthy vineyard owner and watches him from afar. However, Marco is involved with the conniving, seductive Adriana.
After Bella finally gathers the courage to speak to Marco one night, they begin to have a friendship. As their friendship grows, Bella falls fully in love with Marco, but he does not and will never love her.
It's basically supposed to be a novel of a girl tormented by her love of someone who will never return it. It's supposed to be a tragic story, not a love story, about the bitter dark side of love.
It sounds much better when I have more room to explain the characters and the story, I promise!
But whaddya think?

Hey guys! Thank you so much for all your kind words!
To answer some of your questions...
OK, I admit, the ENTIRE story didn't just "pop" into my head, I saw a painting of a girl sitting on a windowsill, looking out at a boy with a dreamy, lovesick expression on her face. So I was "inspired" and have thought about this for about a day, it wasn't like the entire story came to life in one second.

Also, I was thinking of making Bella know Marco because she worked at the vineyard (exactly what The Water guessed!)

Wanda K, I think that that's a tad silly. you have to THINK to WRITE. I'm writing it, I was just wondering if it sounded interesting to people, because what would be the point of writing something nobody wanted to read?

Thanks again for all your comments!

Sounds great! Unrequited love is always a big seller. If you write it, I'd read it.

That sounds like part of the storyline from the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun."

And also, don't worry so much about what OTHERS consider a good story. Worry about what YOU think is a good story. Writers give up too quickly when they start thinking of what others feel about it. Write for you and because you have a passion for it, not what others will think of it.

Stop thinking and start writing. Good idea or not, it isn't anything till you put it in novel form.
