Contentment is great gain!
No one attains complete happiness in this life so it's futile to pursue it.
I'd say no. Happiness isn't the most important thing in this life.
When we KNOW this life is temporary it makes us happier while enduring it. We have hope!

It is not an end in its self, so no, it is not the most important thing in life. Faith, hope, and service to others as a natural expression of the first two, are the most important things in life. Happiness is a byproduct. My 2 cents.

Used to be a Hamlet cigar; now it's a Toyota car. This world has nothing to offer that brings true and lasting happiness. Only the indwelling Holy Spirit can do that.

No, but it's a nice bonus.
The most important thing in life is different for every person. Mine's probably optimism. I don't know what anyone else's is.

Yes - I believe that is our purpose.
Happiness can be obtained by many different things/actions/thoughts.
Example: fighting against racism may make a person happy; surrounding yourself with nature can make you happy; eating ice cream; visiting your granny; saying hello to the mailman; going fishing; remembering a holiday or sunset, and so on.

I think it is very important but I dont feel others see it as a priority. I think its the way toward a healthy and peaceful existance.

Yup, it is. Not just ours though, but our children's as well. You only live once. There's no room in this world for anything else but love and happiness. If you aren't happy, do something else. If you're not in love, find it. Share your wealth, and I don't mean money, with everyone around you..
