When this 'war' started it was suggested that 'Terror Inc.' be treated as any other 'mafia' like organization. International police and security services, plus covert operations on a variety of levels could have severely restricted the arena that these groups could operate in. That idea was hooted down by the Bush Junta and it's friends in the right wing radio media. Instead, a conventional war was launched against a 3rd world military and surprise, surprise...we won! On the down side we created a large and growing resistance that no amount of artillery, armor, aircraft and 'boots on the ground' can overcome. Sure, the 'surge' is working, but that's more of an outgrowth of the bribe money we pay various groups to not shoot at our forces. We've in no way created any kind of working government....the 'Vichy Iraq' government we feed and water inside Fort Green Zone has zip for power or authority. All it is a fig leaf for the American occupation....and even at that it's not working. Iraq is falling apart more and more everyday and all the kings horse and all the kings men aren't going to put this Humpy-Dumpty back together again. So, here's the plan, five years late......get out of Iraq, deal with that fallout as it comes. Crank up the covert establishment of every country that has a dog in this fight and go after the bums that hand out the money and the arms and set up 'training bases' where ever they are. Terrorism cuts both ways and don't let these McCainiacs tell you different. No kiddin!

There is no such thing as a war on terror. It is a lie perpetrated on the US people by the current administration. The main piece of evidence I use to support this idea is that 854 miles of Mexican border are STILL undefended. If they don't know how many illegals are coming across every day, how do they know the so-called terrorists aren't ? If we don't close off the obvious route into our country, how can we claim to be fighting a war on terror ? The border isn't closed because in reality there is no threat, and you can't win a war that you are not fighting.
BTW, I am not a Democrat.

I believe not only the left and center, but now the republicans are now saying we need to go. Attacking Iraq was not fighting the war on terror - that was in Afghanistan. The whole reason we went there was for the "WMD". Great intel! I as a moderate believe we need to concentrate all efforts on Afghanistan. The only thing we did in Iraq was create another rallying point for terrorists of the world. Much like the Soviet Union did in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

What war are you referring to?
The one where only US soldiers (and their families) are asked to sacrifice?
Where the ultra-wealthy pay less taxes than ever before, but gain the most from their investments in the military industrial complex?
Where average Americans complain about paying $3.25/gallon to fill up their 10 mpg SUVs?
The last real war (WWII) required real sacrifices by Americans.....rationing of fuel, food and goods, higher tax rates, military draft of men, etc.
None of that is occurring now. So why does Bush (or you)even consider it to be a war?

Not yet but close. What did you expect from the same generation that gave us the Cut and Run from Vietnam?
Don't worry, the Libs will have us in Darfur instead.
