well i honestly suggest learning what medications you are on.. it is very important to know what they are injecting into your body every 3 months. i believe you are talking about Depo Provera, which is an injectable birth control usual administered every 3 months. anyway, yes it is completely normal to have some spotting or light bleeding while using the injection, it does not mean that you are not protected. (i used it for 2 years, but experienced some awful side effects that landed me in the hospital) when i had the spotting they gave me a small dose of estrogen to take daily, and it seemed to do the trick.

The injection is called Depo-Provera and I have been on it since 2003 after my first child. It takes away my period COMPLETELY. I maybe spotted a couple of times for the first year and thats it. My doctor said this is normal and I wouldn't worry if I were you. However beware! They say that if you miss a shot you may not be able to get pregnant for 3 months to a year. I missed a shot and was pregnant again in 2 weeks. But as long as you get it when you are supposed to you should be fine.

Don't take the next shot!

OK, it is perfectly normal for women to either have NO period or have them bleed for a few months.

Google "depo provera lawsuit" and check out the reviews from http://www.rateitall.com/t-330-birth-control-methods.aspx and see what a majority of women go through on this shot.

WHAT? You aren't sure what the drug is called? WOW... anytime you have any drug go into your body you really need to research it and ask questions of your doctor about the drug. I unfortunately did not have any access to reviews and did not ask the right questions when I started taking depo or I would NEVER have gotten my first shot over 6 years ago.

Its depo provera, I was on it for four years and I'm so glad I'm OFF of it. I had horrible side affects that many many other women have. Now I can only hope that my body goes back to normal.

Oh, and NO contraceptive (INCLUDING Depo provera) is 100% effective. I know of at least one person, who took it at the time needed and as prescribed, that got pregnant ON the shot.

the injectioms that r taken every 3 month contain progesterone which is a female hormone that work by stopping ovulation and it has a high succesfull rate but has a side effect of making an irregular period due to it's action on the lining of the womb
