I just don't think the Beatles had it in mind for their song "Hello, Goodbye" to be used in a Target ad campaign someday...

I'm with Sasquatch, Revolution for Nike. There are a few elements that created that anger. First, it wasn't happening so much at that point in time. That is the first song that I can remember that I really remember being completely bastardized in the name of advertising. The second thing is that I don't believe any of the Beatles would have signed off on it. The fact that they don't own their own tunes and I believe it's Michael Jackson basically prostituted their tune and they couldn't do anything about it. Probably the most frustrating thing for me though is that I really hate it when people take a song like Revolution that really means something and would use it to sell shoes and give off a "we're young and hip" sort of a vibe just sucks. It's like if they used Imagine to sell Ambien or something like that.

Hello Goodbye by The Beatles. It just doesn't fit with a Target commercial... and Revolution for the Nike commercial. Shoes have nothing to do with that song.
Plus, I recently saw a Viagra commercial using the Elvis song Viva Las Vegas.(It was Viva Viagra.) That's just stupid and wrong.

I have to agree with Fizzygurrl. Every time I see a commercial with a cover of a Beatles song, I cringe. First of all, the cover always sucks. Secondly, The Beatles didn't actually agree to have those songs used in commercials. It's all Michael Jackson's fault!

I Love Rock and Roll is definitely one that has been played to death. My classic station played Boston songs so much I got to the point I don't like to hear them anymore. A lot of Aerosmith is overplayed as well. I agree with you about Phil Collins solo work but I also love In The Air Tonight.

I was so tired of hearing Bob Seger's "Like a Rock" back in the day... it must have been the music for at least 20 different Chevy commercials.

it's not classic rock, but One Way Or Another by Blondie has been used in so many commercials that i can't hear it without thinking of some lameass doritos commercial or something. it's a really good song, but i can't take it seriously.

Have you seen that car commercial with Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water"? Actually, I thought it was pretty cool.
Ain't it funny how companies try to use a song to associate it with their product and get people to like it.
