This was said to me by one of my late dads m8's. who watched me grow up into a woman, and it was said after not seeing them for a while and after my dad had died. They payd their respects and then just said it to me, i wasn't thinking straight at the time and very emotional to see them and didn't ask why most unlike me! but i have always wondered Why and what they meant by it.
My dad was Irish, I was the only daughter with 4 brothers

Also it might help if i told you that i was named after my Irish Grandmother before i was born. I am the image of her and my dads sister. to the extent that i have been told that If ever i went to Ireland i wouldn't have to ask for who I was looking for i wouldn't have to open my mouth.

Aww that was very nice. :) He was being very kind and showing the utmost respect by saying "definitely, you ARE your fathers daughter, make no mistake about that" Either your mannerisms, looks or personality or all of the above. That was really cool. I love that compliment which doesn't come around much! You are loved! :)

You must have had a certain characteristic that was very much like your father. For example, if your father liked to wave his hands around a lot while talking and you did the same, they would relate your hand movement to your father's. So they say you are your father's daughter.

It means you are so much like your Father. He was reminded of your Father thru you. It may be your mannerisms, they way you walk, talk, or conduct yourself, or even the way you look so much like your father. He was using this saying as a compliment to you. He probably highlyy respected your Father and just so reminded of him thru you.
Don't look into it too deep. There really is no deep meaning other than, "You are your Father's daughter."

It just means that you act like your father if they knew your father they knew the way you he acted certain things he did when he was sad or happy. So apparently the way you acted reminded them of your father.I get that all the time but i think it's a good thing because i look up to my father and when people say that it means i got a good part of him handed down to me :)

That saying basically means that you take after your father. The person who said it thinks that in looks, mannerisms, actions and/or opinions, you remind him/her of your father. It was meant as a compliment.

It just means that you have some of the looks, mannerisms, and actions similar to your father. Since they seem to have great respect for you father, it was a compliment.

From what I gather, as it is said to my sister all the time, you reflect your father more in behavior and attitude then you do your mother. Most times it is a compliment because you remind that person of your father/

It could me anything from looking like your dad, having similar personality traits or maybe even your mannerisms resemble your father's. Or it could be something as simple as your laugh or an expression of your's looks like your dad's.

It's a compliment - you are your father's daughter is saying that you are like your father - you have his qualities and mannerisms - he has passed his qualities onto you and they live on through you. Having known you since you were little, and of course, having known your father, he will be able to see this.
