I fish because my grandfather taught me how on a bayou in Houma, LA when I was growing up. He said it was a good skill to have because you never knew when you would need it when living in Louisiana. He used the skill during the great depression and I intend on keeping the skill alive by passing it to my son. I enjoy it also because it's very relaxing...I work on a boat, so I get the salt water end of it too.
Hunting for me is much the same. That same grandfather taught me to hunt along with my older uncles and cousins. Every one of them said it's a good skill to have in lean times, aside from the fact it's very exciting and you get to immerse yourself in the comraderie that goes with it.
I enjoy both also because I know no matter how humble my ancestors were, they must have done something similar. It's good to have that connection.

I do both! Hunting is sooo muuuch fuuun :D and i'm a girl--just got my hunting liscense and my rifle is ready to goo! umm lol we are going deerr hunting next week :)
fishing is cool butt it can be tooo boringish sometimes--but its fuun :P i went fishing with my dad in the prince of whales island--off of alaska! We caught soo many salmon :D
yeah and i'm fairly young (15) so its a bit weird me going hunting and fishiing~
its cuss of my dad but i love it ~~~
man i want to hunt elk so badly but like we have to win a raffle ffor it :P
my dad likes to hunt boars

i'd like to hunt. my boy cousin's are very much into it, and when i hear their stories, it sounds like so much fun... but unfortunately, my culture doesn't allow women to hunt. umm.. but i like fishing, because.. i like fish :)

My Grandfather taught me to do both, but I never really cared for it.
