What team would you remove and why.

The players from that team would then be Free Agents.

So what team would you remove?? And you have to include why you got rid of them.

And it can't be "because I don't like them". I want a legit reason please.

Thanks!

information_police and mrjobez are obviously ignorant of DC baseball. Ted Lerner bought the team from MLB last year and DC is building a new stadium for the team. Contrary to what they beleive the team is extremely competitive on the field and off the field. If bud selig and peter angelos hadn't screwed up the Nats TV deal, they'd be making a lot more money. Jeez, thanks a lot MLB for screwing up this team and its farm system.

As for who should be kicked out, its gotta be one of the florida teams. The owners of each team is a penny pincher who makes no effort whatsoever to improve the team. All they do is tank every season and collect revenue from the Yankees and the Redsox thanks to the collective bargaining agreement. There is no reason why either of the teams should stay in the league if their owner has no commitment to make the league better--financially and competetively.

edit: ooh speaking of penny pincher what about the tools in pittsburgh? They seem to put some effort into improving the team but the front office is thoroughly imcompetent. Not only they make bad trades, and let their own players get away (see: Oliver Perez, Barry Bonds, and soon Jason Bay), the front office also makes bad decisions when it comes to drafting. If anyone pays any attention to the MLB draft, they'll notice that Pitt passed up on 3 sluggers (with legit 40 hr power) and a great lefty starting pitcher in favor of a lefty closer who only has 2 pitches. Apparently the plan is that they'll try to convert him to a starting pitcher.

This is going to get me dozens of thumbs-downs (like I care?), but -- the Yankees.

Consider. The Yankees are the biggest dartboard for fan complaints, because they spend so much money, and they spend so much because they earn so much.

Contract the Yankees, annul their huge local media contracts, and install three expansion teams in the NYC metro area -- Bronx, northern New Jersey, Brooklyn. Whittle down the gigantic NY media market advantage by cutting the pie into four pieces instead of two. Voila! Spending issue gone. (And the player's union would probably go for it -- losing the Yankee-influenced salary ballooning would hurt, but gaining another 50 major league jobs would nicely offset that.)

Fans can then complain about how the NY teams all suck and that it was better when we had the Yankees to spit upon, but (a) some fans are never happier than when they're grousing and (b) be careful what you wish for.

This will never happen.

-----
ps. I am far from being a fan of the Yankees, but I wouldn't contract them for petty vindictiveness. Hey, would Star Wars have been so much fun without Darth Vader? What would many fans DO without the Yankees? Hating on, oh, the Orioles, or Rockies, or Twins, just isn't nearly the same.

I say take all the players from both the Yankees and Red Sox. Distribute the players to the other teams in the AL East.

Leave the Yanks and the Sox in the league though. Just make start with young minor league lineups. Rebuilding time!

Seriously though, look at rest of that division:
Toronto is 14 games behind.
Baltimore is 21 games behind.
Tampa Bay is 29 games behind.

To answer the original question though, get rid of the White Sox. That way we would never have to hear Ken Harrelson say "He Gone" after every single strikeout. WGN needs to lose the Hawk.

An obvious answer of many could be either the Devil Rays or Royals.

However, they both have amazing talent.

Devil Rays - Delmon Young, B.J. Upton, Evan Longoria, etc.

They just have too many pitching struggles/problems.

Royals - Alex Gordon, Billy Butler, Billy Buckner, etc.

The Royals have been better this year than most others.

My choice would have to be the Pittsburgh Pirates. They always seem to be giving people away. They gave up a good prospect in Rajai Davis, and in the past, Bonds, etc.

You have to get rid of two, otherwise the schedule would be nearly impossible to do.

Tampa Bay and Kansas City. Neither team has a strong fan base or any kind of success. Then take the Brewers and Colorado and put them in the AL to balance the leagues. The Brewers were an AL team before and Colorado's ballpark is better suited to the AL.

Devil Rays. They play in a marketplace where the fans don't care and in a ballpark that is a mausaleum. Carl Crawford and Kazmir(whatever that pitchers name is,sorry) are the only players who belong on a major league roster. Teams like this and the Kansas City Royals only water down the product. But I'll keep KC because they do have a past tradition of winning.

Probably the New York Yankees. I think without them, the MLB would be a lot more peaceful and not as crazy. If you haven't noticed, like 90% of baseball talk is about the Yankees. I just think that it would be a lot better of a league without them. PLUS, they have plenty of great players on their team, so with all of them in the FAs, teams could pick them up, and the league would become a lot more competitive. (EX. A bad team, out of contention, may pick up one of the highly prized FAs and all of sudden could actually make a run.) I'm just saying that I think it would be pretty cool if the Yankees weren't in the league. We would've definitely lost a lot of history without the Yankees here, I just think it would also be pretty cool without them.

The New York Yankees. The reason is because no one on that team is playing because they love the game. They're playing because they can get the highest salary that is given too them. The players have no heart on the Yankees. When they finally do bring someone up Phil Hughes, etc....... they don't do so well because their farm system is a joke as well. No more Yankees!

Florida Marlins

Its just horrible to see what ownership has done with a team that won 2 titles in the not too distant past

and hopefully Atlanta can snatch up some players

I would remove the Red Sox for the simple reason of distributing that talent throughout the league. BUT seriously, the Devil Rays. They have a lot of good young talent but seem to be going nowhere fast. The attendance is weak and I think even if they put together a .500 team, they might pack the stands with 6500 people. Even Lou Pinlella could only manage bringing them up from horrible to crappy.
