these encyclopedia sets are worthless, the information is out of date and their isn't even a collectors market for these. Unless a set of encyclopedias is over 100years old and in pristine condition they won't be worth the cost of postage (which will be expensive). Just have a look on ebay and you'll see dozens of different sets of encyclopedias just not selling, even when offered for pennies.

So much has changed since then e.g. a World War that, as an encyclopedia, I don't think they'll be worth much but still worth checking on rare sites. Use the illustrations for framing/selling off for decoupage on ebay..

The books themselves are worthless as books. However most contain full sized coloured pages of butterflies, old cattle breeds that no longer exist etc.etc These can be framed and give something a bit different to hang in your home,

They may be worth something to a private collector, you should ask at various auction houses who specialise in books.

Are there any antique book dealers in your area or appraisers ? They will be able to help you. You could also wait for the Antiques Roadshow to come your way...lol!
