Any two states, although one must be a Federal state and one a Confederate. The states have to be linked by a railway system before the civil war. If you could tell me the states, and the name of the railways system if there is one. If there's not, than if you could tell me a confederate state with a railway that ends very near to the border of a federal state, that would be great!

Your best bet will be railroads that connected a Confederate state with a border state. For instance, the Mobile & Ohio Railroad Company ran, by the time of the Civil War, from Mobile Alabama to Columbus Kentucky.

Here is a list. It appears that most of the railway systems were in the north. The North had twice as many lines as the South.
