C++ is a programming language for which you can write the code in any editor of your choice (like Notepad for example) and save the file as a .cpp file.

What you essentially need is a compiler to run the program you have written. You can get the compiler at many websites on the internet (e.g. http://dn.codegear.com/article/20841 )
