I know it's a stupid question, but my dryer is working. It just takes four hours to dry a small load of washed laundry. I noticed the lint trap doesn't get filled up. I was thinking it was that. Is there a way I can clean it myself just in case there's a plug?

I would think that either the heat element is going bad (if the clothes aren't getting warm, or that the Lint is blocking something.

You can buy a Dryer Lint Brush to clean out both the vent, and the lint trap.

I just saw an infomercial on TV for the product. You can also buy them at local hardware stores.

I bet you'll be amazed at all of the lint that comes out of your dryer!

I have enclosed a link to bunch of different available brushes. I wouldn't spend a lot on something like that.

I would first clean the hose from the dryer to the outside. If that is clogged then the dryer does not dry and the lint trap remains clean.

Try using your vacuum hose attachment to clean the lint trap/hose as well as you can.. Also, clean your lint screen with soap and water and make sure that water will pass through it... If you use fabric softner sheets the tray will develop a film and not work properly and possibly burn out your dryer heating until.... good luck

I suspect the vent from your dryer to the outside is obstructed by lint. The screen in your dryer is not totally efficient in preventing lint from entering your vent hose. If your dryer vent is clogged, the possibility of a fire occurring is very high. Get that vent cleaned out. There are products available for you to do it yourself. I use a service to do that for me. Once a year. Amazing what accumulates.

First flip the breaker to the dryer. Detatch the exhaust hose from your dryer and shop vac it out, look into where the hose attatches to the dryer and clean out that as well.

You probably live in an old house and your 220 volts comes from a box with 2 cylindrical fuses. One of them is burned.
