This year I was planning to shed myself of my "ditzy girl" reputation. So yesterday, there was a party for my grade of about 20 kids. We were playing a game and I didn't really get it, so I put down the wrong cards, said the wrong things at the wrong time, did the wrong things at the wrong time and looked completely stupid (and ditzy). I also said some pretty dumb things. Why is this so hard for me?

Don't be so critical of yourself. Why do you think you're "ditzy", because someone else says so?

Just be yourself and if people cant deal with it then find some new friends.

If you really want to change somewhat you can probably start by talking less. The less you talk the less chance you will say the wrong thing. You can also start reading more as reading will not only expand your vocabulary but it will educate you and help you to develop a more structured way of speaking.

When I say read I mean classic/historical literature and current news and events. Believe it or not it helps to read the dictionary and thesaurus as well. Harry Potter ain't gonna cut it....

You were probably concentrating more on what people think of you than what you were doing. Like it was said ditzy doesn't always mean dumb. So what that you got a card game wrong, it's not like it was the world poker championships and you just lost a million bucks. Don't worry that people might think your "ditzy" just prove them wrong in the long run, one day wasn't going to change their minds.

You dont sound that ditzy from what you wrote, you want to better yourself, and that is smart. However, do not change WHO you are. Believe me people will forget about the little mishap, but dont take it too hard others will laugh WITH you, not AT you if you just learn to laugh at yourself. Theres way worse things in life than being ditzy!!

I think you're probably a really nice person and it's a matter of nerves. In a rush to say something, you do or say things too quickly. I have a feeling you're so focused on "doing", you're forgetting about listening. I do that too sometimes. When people are giving directions, I'm so anxious to do the thing that I'm not paying attention to details, which are very important.
Best advice I would give is to try to make an effort to be more of a listener, and wait an extra second or two before blurting out something so that you can process your answer in your head before you say it. That way, you can picture the reaction your answer will get.
Hope this helps!

Well it may just be the pressure you have on you to not be ditzy. Don't put so much pressure on yourself and don't think about it, and pay close attention to whats going on around you. You should also ask questions of you don't understand something, there is nothing wrong with that. And if your not sure about something, then don't say anything or say something like, "I'm sorry, I forgot what to do next could you please help me?" Good luck and hope this helps!

I wouldnt worry about it at all, the 'ditzy girl' reputation shouldnt really be a burden on you. Its actually a really nice way to be if you ask me. You usually find 'ditzy' girls are really quite genuine and nice people, and i think many people would agree with me.

Don't be afraid of who you are, and don't try and fight it so hard.

Why worry about looking ditzy, if that is what you do then its you. Don't be ashamed of how you are. I have lots of ditzy friends and I love them to death. dont worry so much about Impressing people, they are gonna find things about you regardless to hate, or make fun of. So Why change???

It's hard for you because it's part of who you are. You want ppl to take you serious? You should only be serious when it's needed. At a party, where you're supposed to have fun, you shouldn't be worried about being someone you're not. Besides, like this guy just said, ditsy chickies are always cute N fun. What's better is, you're not stupid so you can surprize ppl when you really mean something. = ]

because you're ditzy! along with that when you put yourself under pressure, you tend to bring those qualitie out more even though you don't mean to. just embrace the ditziness, there isn't much else you can do. you may eventually grow out of it.

Ditzy girls are cute! =) Be yourself hun, so what if you appear ditzy? If anyone has a problem with that, tell them to screw off, because you shouldn't change who you are for someone else!
