Exactly. But it only took 19 men, not an army to bring down the WTC and strike the Pentagon, so Bush's battle cry that we "fight them over there so they don't come after us here" makes no sense once you think about it. Also, why and how could we expect a country (Iraq) to be our democratic ally if we deliberately made their land into a battle zone to avoid terror strikes by small groups who are thousands of miles away.

Al Qaeda needs something spectacular every now and then to gain recruits.. They are not doing fine in Iraq, because more Al Qaeda have died than Americans.
The BungleBush doesn't mean anything - he is meaningless.

you're surprising. we've presented Al-Qaeda with a complicated Postgraduate Terrorism and city conflict education center, the likes of not something they have had because of the fact the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, and the school and workforce are the very perfect u.s. has to offer. Jihadis from international huge, from Europe to the a techniques East are traveling to Iraq, studying from the perfect, and the perfect of the graduates are then going back to Indonesia and Pakistan and Chechnya and Morocco and everywhere else to coach the locals. Bush gave Osama his best moist dream come real whilst he committed US wrestle Forces to their open-ended, sick-defined journey in the sands of Araby.

You are right, they are doing fine killing Americans in Iraq, they have us right where they want us, more access-able for them to attack and kill. They would not be able to kill as many young American soldiers here on our homeland, so doesn't it make you wonder why the Iraqi government doesn't want us to leave, are they on al-qaeda's side because al-qaeda was not in Iraq before our invasion, it was a perfect opportunity for al-qaeda to move into Iraq and fight and kill us there. That could be what Bush means, al-qaeda is too busy to plot to come over here, and why would they, they have over 160,000 Americans over there at their disposal, no need to put effort into killing more here, our President is doing that by himself by killing our economy and bringing the majority of Americans into poverty. War on Terror? I can remember twice when the World Trade Center was attacked by non-Americans in my lifetime, 9/11 was the worst with more than one object for destruction, but all other bombings were done by disgruntled Americans. Our own citizens kill more than terrorist have in our nations history. How many people die each day in this country by the hand of another citizen?

It was bin Laden stated goal all along to bring the US into a war in Afghanistan. We wanted to fight the US but on his grounds, he knew they could not support or win any kind of war on US soil. The purpose of 911 was to provoke a US attack, it worked, Bush has complicated it even further with the unnecessary invasion of Iraq.

We are in no more nor no less danger of an attack on American soil than we have always been.
Al Quaida is much stronger today than when the last attacks were made thanks to inept government here, so whatever if any successes have been made by giving up freedoms to would-be dictators is balanced by their increased support.
I still doubt that they will hot in their taxi cabs and on their bicycles and cross the ocean for a mass attack.
Bush himself doesn't know what he means, he just says what he's told to, poor sap.

Al Qaeda and other radical groups ultimately want the war to be here, so that we have to give up more and more of our personal liberties and the way of life we love...and that they hate.
Wars on the other side of the planet don't disrupt much here.
Evidence: so many people already are eager to forget 9/11 and the enemy, and focus on destroying a US president. That wouldn't be happening if we had war on our soil...even a liberal would understand the problem then.

No, what Bush meant is that in 6 years of fighting, a little over 6,500 soldiers have been killed by terrorists. 2,998 civilians died on ONE DAY on 9/11. Why risk an attack on the mainland? They are suicide attacks, what exactly are THEY "risking"?

Because they are insane radicals capable of anything. They want publicity and to frighten people all over the world, that is why they indiscriminately attack people anywhere and murder many people, including women and children.

Al Qaeda doesn't need to attack us here, because they have us exactly where they want us: bogged down ina Middle Eastern War, bleeding to bankruptcy-- Bin Laden's strategy that he feels he used successfully to bring down the Soviet Union.
