Well you raised a very important issue: is dogfighting wrong, and cockfighting correct? Why do we protest against dogfighting and not against cockfighting? While it's true that the dog is man's best friend, aren't dogs and roosters both animals?
In the same breadth, we strongly condemn the killing of dogs for sport or food, but it's totally alright for us to kill cows for our burgers, pigs for pork, and turkeys for Thanksgiving.
I think in this regard there's a double standard of some sorts.

One of Vick's co-defendant's said he saw Vick personally kill 8 dogs. He used hanging, electrocution, shooting, and slamming on the ground in order to kill the dogs. And the only difference in cock fighting is that they use chickens/roosters and dogfighting uses dogs. They are both equally horrible and immoral.

vick confessed to helping in the killing of six-eight pit bulls through various forms of exectution/torture. The difference from cock fighting, as far as i know, is only with the use of dogs. its still wrong and vick should be punished accordingly.

I think that he has admitted drowning and hanging 6-8 dogs. I hope they throw the book at him and that he never plays in the NFL again. And c*ck fighting is just as barbaric.

The difference is that it is still legal to fight Roosters in Louisiana. Although they may have outlawed it by now as well and in that case there really is no difference to me.
