I went to walmart to pick out an outfit for my daughter, and I was surprised at the amount of provocative clothes that they are selling to children 10 and up. I even saw a pair of thong underware. What the **** is going on with society if we think that this is ok to introduce to children who are not even close to the maturity level to handle wearing these items.

There is a definite sexualization of children happening. I, too, have tried to find modest, age-appropriate clothing for my daughter - it's difficult, and she's only 4!! (But tall, about the size of an 8 year old).

The toys are part of it, too. When you see Bratz dolls around, with "baby girls" wearing thongs, heavy makeup, and tummy shirts, of course there will be little girls who want to dress that way, to be "like those dolls", or, as they get older, "like the kids at school".

It comes down to us, as parents and consumers. We have to take a stand to protect our kids, by not spending our money on trashy clothing.

We as a society need to value our children more, rather than throwing them out in the world, dressed as eye candy for pedophiles.

I have to agree. I see more and more kids wearing more provocative clothing, more make-up, more jewelry. But the reason for this in my opinion is because of kids having kids. With such a high rate of teen pregnancies these moms aren't responsible enough to dress their kids more conservatively. And as long as parent's are willing to dress their kids in more provacative clothing, more makeup, more jewelry, retailers will continue to sell it. There are so many 12 year olds that look like 18 year olds. It's scary and sick.

Yes,I do agree but,i think they have done some of that due to the demand. The kids or parents must be asking for it apparently...it's the only reason I cna come up with is why they would do it?
I also noticed Dillards line of kids things has changed. There was almost nothing i cared for there.(it actually looked cheap)
(size 4 to6 girls)Ross has had nothing in for the girls.I can usually find a few cute things in OLd Navy. They do well carrying variety.(a few things there might be iffy but for the most part they have cute things.

That is why I boycott several brands/stores. Abercrombie and Fitch... I won't even buy a t-shirt from them. I saw an add of theirs once that sported a child, roughly 6 years old, wearing a thong that said "Sexy Kitty" in sparkles on the front. I was horrified. Haven't bought anything from them or their parent companies since then.

I'm not trying to tell you what to buy and what not to buy, as we all have our own set of morals. But to me this is just outrageous, and boycotting is the only peaceful way I can think of to protest.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! I have a 10 year old and a 12 year old, and it is so hard to buy appropriate clothing for them. They are still girls, and need to dress like girls, not like a streetwalker.

I'm grateful our schools have strict dress codes here. But, it's often difficult to find shirts that don't show the midriff, long dress shorts, and knee length skirts.

Hopefully the designers will get the message soon and stop the nonsense!!

Well the designers of such clothes must be thinking that children want to look like adults micking us. It doesn't help that Britney Spears and others dress that way that kids watch and want to copy.
This is just a idea of mine I'm not defending designers. When I have kids none of them are going to wear that crap. It disgusts me too and scares me a little thinking that a pedifile could be looking at my future children with lustfuls eyes b/c of such clothes.

I agree. Parents and schools should bar children from wearing such items, so the clothing manufactures stop making them, but as long as parent keep buying, they will continue to make them. Children should learn to be proud of who they are and what they do or they will think the only way to get attention is by showing off their body.

How do you already know they're slutty, nasty, wiped out women people except you have taken some slutty, nasty, wiped out women people around the block some cases. What you do? "those are the girls people daddy used to sleep with" now i'm mad via fact i won't have slutty, nasty, grimy intercourse with them.

I recommend collating/printing the answers to your very real concern here and forwarding them to the Walmart kid's clothing buying department (where ever it is). These people are a bit warped apparently but they will review their clothing lines if they are made aware that customers are questioning their judgement. Someone high in the buying department will answer such a letter of concern. They kinda gotta.

I wish I knew man, I saw a 4 year old theother day at Wal-Mart actually wearing a belly shirt that said "Sexy" At 4 F*CK*NG years old. It's twisted, when did parents stop giving a damn about what their kids wear. It's mostly white trash and hispanic familys I find, nothing racial involved I'm a honky myself but for gods sake people a four year old shouldnt even hear the word sexy to often. Let alone have it emblazoned across her lack of chest for all the pedophiles to see.
