I think men like to be admired and respected and loved by their women. I think men like to help solve problems and take care of their women at least some of the time. Some men need to do this more than others, but in general, if a woman is too independent and self sufficient, her relationship might eventually suffer. Men just like women, like to feel needed and important.

That depends entirely upon the nature of the vulnerability and whether or not it interferes with her ability to lead a mostly-normal life.
