in the beginning of july my fiancee & a man at a movie theatre got into a scuffle. Everyone in the movie theatre was witness that my fiancee was acting in self defense against this crazy person. He(the man) was the first person to touch. The police were called... everyone gave their statments then let go. No one was arrested or hurt/bleeding etc. We told the police we wanted to press charges against him & they said someone would contact us. We didnt hear anything more until today when we recieved a letter from the court saying that my fiancee is due in court in september for an "assault arrainment/pre-trail". my fiancee is 26 years old & has no prior offenses.
what does this mean?
is he getting charged with assault? what about the other guy?
what will happen?

get a criminal lawyer right away, the DA reviewed the police reports and statements and found probable cause to charge your boyfriend for assault,

Either the DA or the "crazy person" decided to press charges. He now needs an attorney. Make sure he gets copies of all police reports.

That means he's been charged with criminal assault. Time to call an attorney.
