I ask this again because it seems most people don't know the difference between a Senator and a Representative, or which states are in the south.

Isn't that worrying?

Black senators have not been elected in the South since Reconstruction..............because it's the South.

The question was too hard TK. They DO NOT know the difference between Senators and Representatives. One3 answer said, "Does Barack Obama ring a bell?" I have to ask, Does the Mason Dixon line ring a bell? Funny isn't it? They like to think they are so clever and fast on their feet and cannot even tell that Illinois is in the North. Also the Two Senators that come up were elected by the State House. Not by the people. Sort of like GWB in 2000. I would guess that you are getting at racism. Probably a lot to do with it. But also, money. It takes a lot to get elected. Plus, sometimes a person gets elected on what they promise to do. History shows us that the black candidates only promise for the black people. And, like it or not, they do not vote. Or they vote party line.

It may be because the government takes the elected, rather white looking, southern black senator's word for what race they are and never checks to make sure that they are not lying.

Hope this helps.

Black Senators are pretty rare anywhere, not just in the South.

There's only been 5 (2 during reconstruction-LA and MISS. and 3 since 1966). Doesn't say much for the North either.

I wouldn't worry about it. In the next ten years ALL the senators from ALL the states will be Mexican.

As I said last time I think we all know the answer to that.

Btw, the only reason house representatives get elected is because of black majority districts.

Maybe because nobody ran for office or nobody voted for a southern black senator.
