I could never figure this out. i mean they both have the accent but i can't figure it out. please help me.

They are definitely Italian.

They say, "Mama-mia!" and speak in a really italian accent in the games. (Mario Party, etc.)

So, Italian.

Italian... They used to even have a cartoon series that would start off with two actual guys dressed up like the characters in an Italian setting.

They're Italian, but in the movie John Liguizamo played Luigi and he's Spanish, so that makes it confusing. Plus, the guy who played Mario isn't Italian either, he's British.

They were Italian. Mario & Luigi are Italian names and they had those big mustaches.
