I like TD Ameritrade, I don't know if they are the cheapest, I think around 10 a trade, but don't seem to have any trick charges and the software works well

scottrade, if you plan to not trade too often for it has a $7 commission, however simply using yahoo to look up statistics is probably still a good idea

I prefer Scottrade, they have a easy to use website and their trade commission fees are very low. Good luck.
