No, he is going to start a new mess in Iran, suspend the elections and continue to destroy the United States.

He has no decision. to desert the conflict would be a sign to what's left of the neocon base that their time table is a entire failure. they do no longer decide to confess that yet even to themselves and can quite attempt to regroup. Leaving the Iraq conflict to the subsequent president (and that i think of they're going to enable a Democrat to win) helps them in charge the Democrats for the loss. of direction, like Vietnam, the certainty that the conflict replaced into lost militarily will get away the fervent top-wingers. Hitler and the Nazis used an analogous tactic. They blamed the pacifists for Germany dropping WWI even although the German military replaced into fully defeated. The methods of the a techniques top-wing under no circumstances substitute. they must be very grateful that so few people ever %. up a historic past e book.

Ask the man himself:

"Asked if Iraq would be a problem after he leaves office in January 2009, Bush said: "The war on terror will be a problem for the next president. Presidents after me will be confronting … an enemy that would like to strike the United States again."

IF we excluded all reporters from the war zone...
IF we sealed the borders and checkpoints utilizing extensive and all pervasive "Death From Above"
IF we landmined desolate and desert border areas...
IF we used some Dam Buster bombs to open the river that Syria and others are trying to HOG all to themselves and make Iraq dry up and blow away...
THEN we could be content having our bases and border flyovers for 10 years or so with MOST TROOPS HOME!

Yes, of course, because there is no way to clean it up by January 2009. And by then, Iraq will be in a complete state of civil war and Iran will be a new mess.

Of course he will. Bush has learned that he can give as many press conferences as he wants. It doesn't matter.

Iraq is a miserable failure and horrible tragedy both for Iraq and America...if not the rest of the world. THAT is the only ''Legacy" Bush will successfully leave.

I think that's exactly the plan. If he agrees to troop withdrawals now, that would be like admitting failure.

If he can keep things at present level untill he leaves office, then he can go into a relatively quiet retirement and his party can blame the dems for the whole mess

the papers report that there are appx 800 detainees of less than 11 years of age.. that's almost 8 times what it was a short time ago. the article states that terrorist organizations especially al-qaeda, are having an exceptionally hard time finding older recruits.. and this is due, in part, to the border not being as porous as it once was. so, now that they are backed into a corner, they are turning to CHILDREN to fight their battles more than ever.... you cannot tell me that this is not a desperation act... this is DAMAGING evidence that the surge, and the war in general, is working. so get over yourself.

Sure, just like Clinton left Osama bin Laden at large for President Bush to deal with.

The timeline to have troops in the nation means the next president will certainly be dealing with this civil war.
