Awww ID doesn't like Republicans that don't play partylines. Sorry but Spector is one of the TOUGHEST Republicans. He just doesn't care who is in power. Bet if Bush was a Democrat and he was behaving how he DOES you wouldn't call him weak-kneed. I'm from PA and there is a REASON we reelected Spector. That is because we don't care who is in power, we want someone who represents us.
As to the question I have yet to hear then show he did anything that was illegal. Was it questionable? Sure, but other Presidents have done the same thing. Heck at least Bush didn't use the Justice Dept to KILL people like Clinton and Reno(Ruby Ridge and Waco come to mind really quick)

Solicitor General Paul Clement will be acting attorney general until a replacement is found, said administration officials who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid pre-empting the announcement.
Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff was among those mentioned as possible successors, though a senior administration official said the matter had not been raised with Chertoff. Bush leaves Washington next Monday for Australia, and Gonzales' replacement might not be named by then, the official said.

I haven't been following all of this because I just get tired of it but why do you automatically think he stepped down because he did something illegal? Maybe he did , maybe he didn't. Until it is proven I'll hold my judgment. But what about this - maybe he just got tired of all the blame and accusations and decided it would be in the best interest of his family just to bow out? Maybe he got tired of the media circus? Maybe he figures the term in up soon anyway so why go through this crap any longer and he just decided to leave now on his own terms.
Will you still call the person a criminal it its a democrat that is appointed?

haven't you lived long enough to see that as each president reaches the final year point, the next election takes priority and calls for a different set of associates? it is often covered in political science 101 in some accredited schools.

It's Watergate all over again. The difference is that corruption has become so commonplace in the government it could almost go unnoticed if it weren't for the efforts of Congress to bring the facts to light.

If Bush don't fill the position with a lefty, whoever takes Gonzo's place will be vilified and investigated eventually. I don't really care, as long as the libs are preoccpied with that, instead of growing the government more and taxing the daylights out of me.

Hopefully someone without the Bushie stamp. But I do expect a really quick appointment, before Congress returns. This is another example of "perfect timing".
