It is normal. When I was pregnant last year, I started by losing a little day by day during my last trimester. After 36 weeks, I lost a lot (big long string with blood) everytime I went to the bathroom. After the second day, I just had a feeling that my baby was coming. By the third day, my water broke and we went straight to the hospital.

The mucus plug is a plug that keeps the water inside for the baby. If you lose a lot of it, the water will eventually come out. You're baby is almost ready to meet you. Congradulations!

Yes it's normal...but go to the doctor, you may be starting to dilate. When I lost mine, I went to the doctor a couple of days later, and I was told I was 2 centimeters.

So this is probably a warning that you are very close to having your baby.

There are so many different ways to lose the "plug" so I would suggest calling your dr/midwife just to be safe.

if it isnt a lot of blood that is coming out and just mainly mucous, you are fine.... My doc told me that your body actually continues to make the mucous... so you will continue to lose some until the baby comes.

If it is really concerning you, mention it to your doc at the next visit and see what he/she says... we are not professionals here... so there might be something that we don't know....

good luck :)
