I would've stuck a bit more to the book: Mr. Halloran didn't die in the book (at all), and I would've showed a more human side of Jack toward the end; remember that he was not evil, just possessed.

Stanley Kubrick's movie: THE SHINING, similar to his other movie: BARRY LYNDON, were mostly designed to demonstrate technical achievement in movie making.

THE SHINING contained several movie making innovations never done before. Kubrick was showing off his genius all through this movie.

Unfortunately the plot and story line of THE SHINING was not priority in Kubrick's technical achievement. Some say that in the movie: THE SHINING, auteur director Stanley Kubrick began his downhill slide.

I never saw the end of this movie..I got to the part where Jack Nicholson's character meets the naked chick in the bathroom and I was like ''Whoa, this movie is stupidly unrealistic..'' then I changed the channel...Did it get better? Did he kill anyone?

If it was me, the ending would have involved a giant musical number, singing horses and a giant pie fight....
