No chance. No way. His speech using the argument that we didn't stay in Vietnam long enough last week, closed any possibility to leaving.

I wonder if Bush knew in advance that Senator Warner was going to come back from Iraq with an unfavorable view and wanted to trump him on that first, to prevent any other GOP senators from backing off their committment to Bush's folly in Iraq.

No. It is physically impossible to pull out ALL of the troops by the end of the year. There is evidence of progress in Iraq (even the Democrats are admitting to this). So no, it's doubtful he would start surrendering.

The chances are slim to none. He still thinks we can win in Iraq. Besides if he listens to Cheney and invades Iran next, we will already have our troops in the area.

Bush already emphatically promised last year that would not, under any circumstances, withdraw completely from Iraq for the remainder of his presidency. period.

He made no mention when making this promise that there was anything, including any new info or intel from the military, that would or could change his mind.

Besides it being physically impossible, we are stuck there for a minimun of 10 more yrs. I don't care what Hillary thinks she can do, we are there for awhile.
