He repeatedly asked why the gun related deaths in the US (12,000 per year) are so high compared to other countries such as Australia (65 per year). He never got an answer. So what does every think.

the american constitution gave all men the right to bear arms (except black men) but that was because of a specific threat from the british army. that situation no longer exists so should that be dropped from the constitution

He and the two young men who had been injured in the Columbine shootings were able to get KMart to agree to stop selling ammunition.

That's quite an achievement for three people.

He did arrive at a reasonable answer -- the culture of fear that U.S. politicians foster in order to gather more of OUR power for themselves.

Michael Moore is a threat to that status quo because of the *questions* he asks. That's why they work so hard to discredit him. Unfortunately, a great deal of the U.S. public would rather insult him than ask similar questions themselves. Anyone who thumbs me down, I challenge you to do the research yourselves, and from a wider variety of sources than Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.

No not really. I think he's right on spot with some things and goes far left with others. Basically he's in the business of making money. I guess there is nothing wrong with that. I can prove this but I don't want to.

How much of the gun related deaths are suicides? How much of the gun related deaths attributed to drug dealers? How much of the gun deaths related to domestic abuse?

By just giving a blanket number without more data only gives rise to more questions. Great Britain and Australia have always had a lower per gun related death compared to us. Why? It's a question of many factors. It can't be attributed to one reason.

If anyone really knew the reason why, don't you think some country would use it stop the violence? You can't isolate one factor and say "that's the reason why this is true." There are so many variables: geography, history, demographic makeup, government, cultures, accessibility and so many more.

I think he is a concerned individual, but has not considered all sides of the problem. Granted the availability of "guns" makes them a easy choice but they are not the cause of the violence.

As far as "exposing the gun culture" is concerned, I think it's more accurate to say pointing out the decline of the gun culture and the rise of random violence.

Australia has far more than 65 gun related deaths a year.. Michael Moore lies again? Who would have though!?!?

And the answer to this question isn't politically correct, so no politician is going to touch it. The vast majority of US gun crime happens in urban areas with heavy minority population. I'm guessing the US tends to have more of that than Australia.

I wouldn't take mike's pseudo-documentaries all that seriously, his first one (Roger and Me) wasn't even allowed to compete as best documentary because of the, shall we say, conflicts with reality?

If you think the constitution should be changed, the best thing to do is work hard to get it changed. Frankly, I think that would just increase the number of stabbings, poisonings, bombings, etc. What really needs to change is how people think, not the number of weapons they have access to.

Exposing the 'gun culture!?' Is that what he was trying to do? Honesty isn't one of his strong suits.

Besides, is anyone less dead if they are stabbed, stoned, run over, strangled, and a whole myriad of ways that murder is committed compared to getting shot.

A gun is only dangerous if it is loaded, and the trigger is pulled. A gun is a tool. If guns where not availible the murder rate would would not go down.

michael moore is a member of the NRA, and doesn't like to hold the people who committ these violent acts accountable. he is a true hypocrite. he loves to bash people, but he never has any solutions.
