I think you are talking about organizing your home. It can be done, really. The trick is making lists of all of the sh*t you have, creating a particular space for each of those things, and then keeping your things in those particular spaces. For example, in my kitchen closet, I have three tupperware boxes: "tools" (for lightbulbs, measuring tapes, nails, and anyting that could classify as a tool), "office" (for tape, scissors, pens and markers, boxes of staples and anything else weird), and "electronics" (for airline headphones, chargers, old discs and walkmans, etc.). As well, I figured out that my eight million papers could be sorted into "stationery/blank stuff to be written on", "letters received/stuff to keep and look at to feel happy", "cutouts from magazines (home & garden/fashion/recipes) and "bills/important legal paperwork or credit card statements". In my house, the blank stationery takes up a whole cabinet, the letters received fit into a photo box, and the legal/credit card paperwork is sorted in a six-subject plastic folder, and the magazine cutouts are in their own folders: fashion, home&garden, and recipes (which I keep in the kitchen). Finally, in my bedroom, I have a set of four plastic drawers for my purses, extra belts, nylons, and "miscellaneous clothing" stuff that I don't really want mixed in with my other clothes. This makes it easier to find everything. Also, my sister taught me to make one drawer for just underwear and bras, and another drawer entiretly for socks, swimsuits, and athletic underwear. I have a third drawer still for pajamas. I bought plastic crates for my shoes so they would not all gather on the bottom of my closet, and have also learned now to keep the shoes in the boxes from now on and stack them that way. That has been great! It's a lot of work to get organized, but once you actually go through everything, think about how you could categorize your stuff, and make particular places for each category, it is truly easy to stay organized. Hope this helps.

Organized is one thing I am not, really.
But if it helps, try to have a list of things you want or need to do. And as you do each thing, check it off.
It also helps not to have much clutter in the first place, to distract you or otherwise get in your way.
