It could be a few things. The ethernet cable is bad. Not unless your using wireless. Network card could be bad. Your network card could be disabled. You dont have ethernet cable plugged in all the way. Your not recieving DHCP not unless you have it setup to static. Your firewall could be blocking access. Do you have a server?
So check the following IP address configuration, ethernet cable, network card. Cant help much more not unless you give more details.
Another thing to try is to unplug and replugin the ethernet cord that is connected to the computer. That has helped me a few times even though the network activity light was blinking on the network card.

You have to ask this and you run a COMPUTER SHOP ??
For a start is it a wireless or cabled network ?
Do you get an IP assigned to the PC having problems ?`
Is the PC having problems set to AUTO ASSIGN IP or set MANUAL ?
Is there a router / other DHCP server assigning IPs?, has it crashed ?
U need to repost with some of this info so people can help, and this is NOT an offer for you to mail me. Edit / repost a question

Could you possibly give us some more details?
*What kind of computers are you using (PC, Mac or both)?
*What kind of operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, *NIX or combination)?
*What kind of network is it (wired, wireless, mixed)?
*How is each machine connected to the network?
*Are you using an access point/router, switch or hub?
*Are you connecting to the Internet?
*What kind of Internet connection do you have? etc...
If you can provide that info, we should be able to start a diagnosis from there.

If they are hooked up to different phone lines, you need to check the phone line connected to that computer. That could be the problem

This problem could be very hard to solve. I suggest you pay someone to come to your shop and investigate.
