most likely from places like bosnia, croatia, through turkey and libya. im sure theres an established network, just like heroin and illegal immigrants.
well i dont work for customs or know anybody in that line of work but really, how do you search every container and patrol every kilometer of sea / coastline.
its just down to the maths of it really, more criminals than customs and endless ways to import stuff.

Well, you have to realise Britain is a tiny country with a heavily diverse and concentrated population. People from all over the world come and go all the time, and however much customs try..there will always be people who manage to smuggle guns into the country, and there are people who manufacture guns themselves for gangs in Britain.

Can I ask, why did you call yourself Stalin?

If you were a drug trafficker and were shipping a consignment of say, £100000 worth of drugs into the country .
It would not be a problem if you asked your overseas suppliers to throw a few handguns in with the consignment.

You will go down for the drugs anyway if you are caught, so the guns would make little difference to the sentence you get.

Also remember that the proceeds from drug trafficking are known to be used to buy arms, so the cycle continues.

Stop the drugs, you will automatically stop most of the arms.
One of thebiggest problems in Afghanistn at the moment isthe heroin trade. The locals see it as their only source of income, the allied forces are trying to get rid of it.

There was a piece about this on the TV the other day. An investigation found that a lot of the guns smuggled into Northern Ireland then found there way over here.

Customs can not check every packet or person who comes in they need tip offs. My own view is that the peace process in Ireland has something to do with it. I do not know what price they are going for but they must be fairly cheap

customs people would love the chance to do their job properly. they cant because the government wont pay them to do it. i often go to france by ferry and on my return , usually late at night i go through unchecked. I could easily have a car full of guns drugs etc.

That is a good question. But have you thought about all the people that have liscences to have weapons but misuse the priveledge. Or even the possibility of an underground black market where guns could be in production within the uk. All sorts of crazy stuff goes on in this country that we dont even know about!
