-Just a good ole fashioned story from the past- It was Sunday, July 4, 1976. I'll never forget this cuz it was the commemoration of our country's Bicentennial. I was playing in a band that was on the bill of a four band outdoor concert where Styx was headlining. Anyway... Styx was late showing up for the show. Real late. So late that while the stage crew and roadies were bustin a$$ trying to get things onto the stage, Styx walked out onstage and gathered around one microphone. Trying to kill some time, Shaw picked up an acoustic and they calmly went into an A cappella version of, you guessed it, Suite Madame Blue. They somehow managed to turn the chorus (Americaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa) into a crowd sing-a-long while the promoters simultaneously decided to let loose with the fireworks display. By the end of this "sound check", the audience was ready. The crew was ready. And the band went on to deliver one of those "had to of been there" magical shows. If I hadn't already been a Styx fan before that, I surely would of been one after the show...that night! BTW, love prog. Huge Kansas fan.
