28 = perimeter

28 = 2(2w - 1) + 2w
Distributive peoperty on the right side of the equation
28 = 4w - 2 + 2w
collecting like terma
28 = 6w - 2
Transpose 2
28 + 2 = 6w - 2 + 2
Collect like terms
30 = 6w
Divide both sides of the equation by 6
30 / 6 = 6w / 6
30/6 = w
5 = w

2([2x - 1] + x) = 28
2(2x - 1 + x) = 28
2(3x - 1) = 28
6x - 2 = 28
6x = 30
x = 5
